Carl Fuhrman, MD: Master Diagnostician, Educator, Mentor, Colleague, Friend

Dr. Carl Fuhrman died unexpectantly the evening of June 27th, 2020 doing what he loved most… reading x-rays. He was the consummate medical educator, clinician and all-around academic radiologist. His passion for teaching was known in and outside the radiology department. He won the department teaching award year after year, even after it was renamed for him. Carl also won the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Golden Apple Award 9 times. Radiology and the department loomed large in his life, and his trainees, colleagues and associates within and outside of the department were his family.
