Pediatric Radiology Division

One of the largest pediatric radiology services in the nation, the pediatric division is based out of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Children's Hospital has consistently appeared in U.S. News & World Report as well as Child magazine’s pediatric hospital rankings. The division consists of highly-skilled, fellowship-trained pediatric radiologists who provide specialized imaging and diagnostic interpretation service, and offer cutting-edge interventional procedures.

While sedation is a protocol for pediatric imaging patients, the division’s commitment to patient care has included an initiative to reduce patient sedations. Utilizing a variety of distraction techniques, sedation rates were reduced 90 percent in one year, and the trend continues downward.

The new Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC is a 1.5 million-square-foot facility located in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh that boasts a state-of-the-art radiology department. One of the world’s only green pediatric hospitals, Children's features private rooms, a dramatic healing garden and research tower. In addition to services at Children's, division faculty also cover the neonates at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, and provide general radiology services at Children's north, east and south ambulatory care centers.
