UPMC Residents bring home the Silver at the RSNA National Resident Competition

Congrats to team UPMC who came in second place by a slim margin at the RSNA Resident Competition. The team defeated perennial imaging competition powerhouse University of Cincinnati in a semifinal round before being narrowly beaten by the University of Maryland in the final round. Congratulations to all the teams and Well Done team UPMC!

UPMC Pitt Women in Radiology (PWR)

The UPMC Pitt Women in Radiology (PWR) group is focused on mentorship and friendship. The group brings together residents, fellows, and faculty from throughout the UPMC Radiology department. Recent events include attending a picnic and virtual lecture in Dr. Hughes' backyard, discussions on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the academic careers of women in medicine and science, and a recent fall social hour. Look out for events in the spring for female medical students interested in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology!

Neuroradiology Division Update

After a successful 10 year tenure as Chief of the Neuroradiology Division, Dr. Branstetter stepped down on April 1st 2021. Dr. Agarwal was named the new Chief after having served as the Associate Chief the previous 3.5 years. The Neuroradiology Division has undergone some changes over the past few years. After a long and distinguished career, Dr. William Rothfus retired July 1st, 2020. Two new faculty members also joined the division July 1st, 2020. Dr. Frank Lexa joined the department as Professor of Radiology and Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs. Given his strong knowledge and experience working in China, Dr. Lexa will spend part of time working with UPMC International. He will continue as Chief Medical Officer the Radiology Leadership Institute and Chair the ACR’s Commission on Leadership and Practice Development. Dr.
